Frequently Asked Questions

Q: I thought Amtrak was the only option for long distance passenger rail travel. How is it possible that you can operate a train?

A: Our passenger cars are carried on the rear of a regularly scheduled Amtrak train. We provide our own equipment and crew to attend to our passenger needs. This includes food service, baggage handling, mechanical services, and cleaning crews. We are self contained with kitchen facilities, restrooms, and power generators.

Q: Does the train run ontime?

A: Sadly, long distance passenger trains often run late. Sometimes this can amount to less than hour, or sometimes several hours. Weather, freight train interference, locomotive malfunctions, and track work can contribute to trains operating late. On our northbound trip our train will usually arrive close to ontime. However, southbound the train can be several hours late. Lateness is out of our control and therefore we cannot guarantee arrival time.

Q: Can your passenger cars accomodate wheelchairs?

A: No, the equipment being over 50 years is not capable of accomodating wheel chairs. Passengers must be able to climb the steps that lead onto the train.
